COLLEGE PROJECT: CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS
Directions: Find a minimum of two college clubs and/or professional associations you can join that fit in your potential career path. Describe each in at least one paragraph including the activities the clubs participate in, the dues, and the benefits of joining for your future career. Include the club or association’s website in your description if they have one. To find clubs and associations that you can join visit your college’s website and search for “clubs.”
Example:
“Interior Design Society (IDS) is an independent national organization more than 4,000 members strong. One of the country's largest design organizations dedicated to serving the residential interior design industry, the Interior Design Society offers members community, education and business support. The IDS National headquarters is located in High Point, NC, the world's home furnishings capital. IDS Student Members can learn much by attending IDS chapter meetings. Usually held monthly, IDS chapter meetings provide an opportunity to meet with established designers and to learn outside the classroom. This interaction of new and established designers is a great learning experience for both. IDS membership gives design student a chance to supplement required course work with real world knowledge. IDS local chapters provide more than networking; many are active in fundraising for local and national causes, staging area-wide promotions, organizing educational trips, and other "hands-on" experience. IDS membership is available to all students enrolled in an accredited interior design program. Verification from an instructor, a student ID card, valid diploma or transcript may be submitted as proof of enrollment.”
